Seven New Cask Masters Bottlings. Autumn Edition

As the leaves start to turn, we're bringing seven new single cask bottlings to the Cask Masters range, spanning across all the regions in Scotland with some genuinely interesting maturations and finishes to see you through the colder months ahead. A few of these are casks we've been keeping an eye on for a while, and it's good to finally get them bottled and out the door. The batch covers both tiers: three expressions in Golden Proof, matured to approachable strength, and four in Distiller's Cut at natural cask strength.

Dalrymple 12 Year Old · Lowland Single Malt · 51.9% ABV
1st Fill Madeira Barrique · Distilled 07/11/2013 · 343 bottles

This Lowland spirit carries a light,  cleaner fruit character, with some vanilla and orchard fruit. Finished in a 1st fill Madeira Barrique, it pick up some raisin, dried apricot, and a nutty, toffee-ish sweetness.

Linkwood 14 Year Old · Speyside Single Malt · 49.8% ABV
1st Fill Tawny Port Barrique · Distilled 18/05/2012 · 311 bottles

Linkwood is a quietly respected Speyside distillery, known for a soft, floral, grassy spirit that's long been prized by blenders. Fourteen years in a first fill Tawny Port Barrique brings a gentle red-fruit sweetness to that delicate base.

Tomintoul 11 Year Old · Speyside Single Malt · 51.3% ABV
1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Barrique · Distilled 26/01/2015 · 264 bottles

Tomintoul is often called "the gentle dram" — a light, clean Speyside spirit built for easy drinking. Eleven years in a first fill Oloroso Sherry Barrique adds a layer of dried fruit and warmth without overpowering that softer character.

Distiller's Cut Releases

Royal Brackla 10 Year Old · Highland Single Malt · 56.9% ABV
1st Fill Fino Sherry Hogshead · Distilled 16/09/2015 · 246 bottles

Royal Brackla holds a royal warrant dating back to 1835, and produces a spirit that's fruity and slightly nutty in character. Fino sherry casks are drier and lighter than Oloroso, so ten years here should bring a crisp, saline edge alongside the distillery's natural fruitiness.

Caol Ila 14 Year Old · Islay Single Malt · 56.5% ABV
1st Fill PX Sherry Hogshead · Distilled 10/01/2012 · 289 bottles

Caol Ila produces a smoky Islay spirit, but the smoke leans more towards barbeque char than heavy peat, sweeter and more balanced than some of its island neighbours, with a lot of it destined for blends. A first fill PX Sherry Hogshead is a bold pairing — PX brings deep, raisined sweetness that should sit alongside that smoke rather than smother it.

Glen Elgin 16 Year Old · Speyside Single Malt · 55.1% ABV
1st Fill Bourbon Hogshead · Distilled 29/06/2010 · 255 bottles

Glen Elgin is another blender's favourite, prized for a rich, honeyed, slightly waxy character. Sixteen years in a first fill Bourbon Hogshead is classic territory brings vanilla and orchard fruit that is built on that distillery weight.

Orkney Single Malt 20 Year Old · Island Single Malt · 58.1% ABV
American Oak Hogshead · Distilled 08/06/2006 · 270 bottles

This Island spirit is built around heather honey and a soft peat smoke, with orange zest and wood spice running through it. Twenty years in an American Oak Hogshead has let that character settle into something rounder, vanilla and coconut from the oak, smoke still present but gentle.
