Voodoo wins!
Whisky of Voodoo is our range of special, small-batch single malt and single grain whiskies, released twice a year. Designed to entice & enchant, these carefully selected whiskies are matured and finished using funky finishes in the casks often sourced from exotic, far-flung locations.
We are extremely proud to share with you the exciting news about our recent achievements at the World Whisky Awards. Two of our Voodoo bottles being receiving the top honour in their respective categories.
Whisky of Voodoo ‘The Rusty Cauldron’ (Batch #1) became a winner in the category ’Small Batch Single Malt’. This 11 year old whisky from Islay which was matured in refill sherry butts and finished in 1st fill Chateau Lafite wine barriques and bottled at the natural cask strength of 54% abv. We decided to bottle this special whisky because of its unique maritime, smoky, and earthy flavours along with fresh red grapes, dried herbs, fresh peppers, and even some salted caramel.
Whisky of Voodoo ‘Coven of Resurrection’ (Batch #1) was announced as the winner in the ‘Single Grain” category. It is a 13-year-old whisky from the Lowlands which was matured in 1st fill red wine casks and was bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.8% abv. We love this whisky for its fresh, grassy, garage forecourts nose and beautiful flavours of raisins covered in dark chocolate reminiscent of apple and blackberry crumble. Definitely a dram for a cold winter nights.
The World Whiskies Awards is an annual event that celebrates the best of the best in the world of whisky, curated by “Whisky Magazine”. The awards recognize exceptional whiskies, distilleries, and the skilful blenders from around the world that create them. The competition is judged by a panel of experts, including master distillers, blenders, and journalists. The Awards are an excellent resource for anyone who loves whisky and wants to discover new and exciting brands. It also serves as a guide for those who want to explore different categories of whisky, or try whiskies that have been matured in different types of casks.
Here, at Brave New Spirits, we are super proud that our products gain recognition from this prestigious competition. It encourages us to continue to seek out the very best casks, to experiment with different types of maturation, and to deliver to our customers ‘brave spirits’ with exciting flavours at their core.
