Raising a Glass: Our Success at Scotch Whisky Masters 2024
The Scotch Whisky Masters stands out as a highlight on the calendar of The Global Spirits Masters Competitions (GSMC). It is a prestigious series of blind-tasting events celebrating excellence in the spirits industry. Organized by The Spirits Business, GSMC gathers expert judges to evaluate spirits across various categories based on quality, flavour, complexity, and craftsmanship. Winners receive accolades that enhance their reputation and marketability. GSMC serves as a global platform highlighting innovation, tradition, and the artistry behind the world’s finest spirits.
We are thrilled to share that our Single Grain “Ghost Of The Hill” bottling from the Cask Noir series, a unique single cask (a total of 307 bottles) from the now-closed Port Dundas distillery, has been honoured with a prestigious “Master” award. “Ghost of the Hill” is a 17yrs malt which was bottled from a 1st fill Lafite Wine Barrique and offers the flavours of liquorice roots, toasted coconut, prickly pear and autumn forest. It was described by the judges as being “controlled despite the higher ABV, with crème brûlée and a touch of struck match”.
In addition, we are proud to announce that our new WhiskyHeroes range has garnered its first accolades. Our 'Haunting Songs' (12yrs Caol Ila, finished in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads), Deep Creatures Of The Lake (10yrs Loch Lomond, matured in 1st fill Bourbon Barrels), and Defender of The Crown (8yrs Annandale, matured in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry Butt) have all received Gold medals.
Furthermore, our Royal Cabinet 20yrs blend was also awarded Gold, marking a significant achievement for our Volume brands collection. Royal Cabinet is our high end blended whisky, created in small batches with lots of care. We choose the finest aged spirits from some of Scotland's top distilleries. This limited release combines rich flavors, a smooth texture, and the unique traits that come from perfectly aged spirits.
We’re truly thankful to the judges and organisers. Our tasting team in Glasgow is thrilled to see their carefully selected whiskies get such high recognition. You can find more details about this competition and the list of nominees here.
