Celebrating Success at the Spirits Selection by CMB Awards

Spirits Selection by CMB is an annual international spirits competition that aims to recognize and reward the best spirits from around the world. It is organized by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB), known for its expertise in evaluating and promoting the quality of alcoholic beverages.
The competition brings together a panel of internationally renowned judges, including spirits experts, master blenders, sommeliers, and journalists. They evaluate each spirit blind and rate them on various criteria, such as taste, aroma, appearance, and overall quality. The competition serves as a platform for distilleries and spirits producers to showcase their craftsmanship and innovation to an international audience. Winning a medal at Spirits Selection by CMB is seen as a prestigious recognition.
The 25th Spirits Selection by CMB was held in Treviso, Italy. 2383 spirits from 57 countries have entered the competition this year. And just 30% of all entries received any type of award (as per guidelines for competition). Three types of medals are awarded – Grand Gold, Gold and Silver. We are delighted that we received two of the four Gold Medals issued to Scottish producers and two Silver Medals.
Gold Medal was issued to our Yellow Edition, Ruadh Maor (Glenturret Distillery) 11 YO Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured in Bourbon Hogshead and bottled at 54,4% ABV. The second Gold Medal was issued to Royal Cabinet 19 YO Blended Scotch Whisky from our Volume Department. Royal Cabinet is made from a collection of our finest aged whiskies, including some very special single malts. High evaluation by the experienced judges demonstrated that the finest luxury whiskies aren’t always Single Malts.
An absolutely amazing achievement for our Whisky of Voodoo brand. Two bottles have received Silver Medals: ‘Black Cat Bone’ and ‘The High Priest’. The first one is a 12-year-old Benrinnes, matured in 1st fill Tawny Port Barrique and bottles at 54,1% ABV. ‘The High Priest’ is an 8-year-old single malt from Orkney Islands, matured in 1st fill Bordeaux Wine Barriques.
The Spirit Selection by CMB represents the epitome of excellence in the spirit world. It creates the excitement of uncovering rare finds and unique expressions that showcase the diversity and innovation within the spirit landscape. We are truly privileged to be part of this landscape of excellence.
